Section 1

Introduction

Welcome to Void ("we," "us," "our," or the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use Void — a Safari dark-mode extension and companion macOS settings application.

Void is designed to be privacy-first. Dark-mode processing happens on your device. We do not operate a Void account system, and we do not send your browsing history or page contents to Cyborgate servers for analysis or advertising.

By installing or using Void, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App or extension.

Section 2

What Void Does

Void applies dark themes to websites you visit in Safari by injecting CSS and related styling logic into web pages, based on your settings. You can:

  • Enable or disable dark mode globally or per website
  • Choose theme presets (e.g. Void, Dark, AMOLED, Midnight, Sepia)
  • Adjust brightness, contrast, sepia, grayscale, and related options
  • Maintain a site list of hostnames where dark mode is allowed or customized
  • Manage settings from the macOS Void app and the Safari toolbar popup
Section 3

Information We Process

Void processes limited information needed to provide dark-mode functionality. Processing is local to your Mac unless you contact us separately by email.

3.1 Settings & Preferences (on-device)

Global enable/disable, selected theme, filter adjustmentsSafari extension storage & shared App Group on your MacRemember how you want dark mode to look and behave
Site hostnames (e.g. example.com) and per-site overridesOn-device onlyAllow, disable, or customize dark mode per website
Custom themes you create (colors, image filters)On-device onlyStore your personal theme presets
Optional notes you attach to a site entryOn-device onlyLet you label or remember site-specific preferences

3.2 Page Content (processed locally)

To restyle a page, Void's content scripts run in Safari and may read DOM structure, CSS, and related page resources on the current tab. This analysis is performed locally in Safari so themes can be applied correctly.

Important: Void does not upload your browsing history, page HTML, cookies, form fields, passwords, or personal content to Cyborgate. Page restyling is an on-device feature.

3.3 Permissions Void Uses

  • Website access: needed to inject dark-mode styles on sites you allow
  • Storage: saves themes and site preferences on your device
  • Tabs: applies settings to the active Safari tab and communicates between popup and content scripts
  • Native messaging / App Group: syncs settings between the Safari extension and the macOS Void settings app on the same Mac

3.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not create user accounts or require sign-in
  • We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers
  • We do not use advertising identifiers, cross-site tracking, or third-party ad SDKs
  • We do not collect location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or health data
  • We do not log the content of pages you visit on Cyborgate servers
Section 4

How We Use Information

On-device data is used solely to:

  • Apply and remember dark-mode themes
  • Honor per-site enable/disable and customization rules
  • Keep the macOS settings app and Safari extension in sync on your Mac
  • Improve reliability of local styling (e.g. detecting already-dark sites when you enable that option)

If you email us for support, we use the information you choose to send (such as your email address and message) only to respond and resolve your request.

Section 5

Data Storage & Retention

  • On your Mac: settings, themes, and site lists are stored via Safari Web Extension storage and/or a shared App Group container used by the Void host app and extension
  • Cyborgate servers: Void does not maintain a cloud profile or remote settings database for the product

Data remains on your device until you change or delete it, uninstall Void, or reset Safari / extension data. Support emails are retained only as long as needed to handle your inquiry and meet legal obligations.

Section 6

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Void does not share your site lists, themes, or browsing activity with third parties for marketing.

Limited disclosure may occur only if required by law, to protect our rights and users, or if you explicitly instruct us (for example, by attaching logs in a support email).

Apple provides Safari, extension APIs, and the Mac App Store infrastructure under Apple's own privacy practices. Those services are not controlled by Cyborgate.

Section 7

Security

We design Void so sensitive work stays local. Settings are stored using platform-provided storage mechanisms on macOS/Safari. No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure, but because Void does not upload browsing data to our servers, the primary risk surface for your site preferences is physical or account access to your Mac.

Protect your Mac with a strong password or biometrics, keep macOS and Safari updated, and only install software from trusted sources.

Children's Privacy

Void is a general-purpose productivity utility and is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through Void. If you believe a child has provided personal information via a support email, contact us and we will delete it.

Section 10

International Users

Void runs on your Mac. Because core product data stays on-device, Void does not transfer your site lists or page content to Cyborgate for processing. If you contact us by email, that correspondence may be processed where our support systems operate.

Section 11

GDPR & CCPA Summary

Where applicable laws grant you rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection, you may exercise them by contacting contact@cyborgate.uk. Because Void keeps preferences on your device, the most effective way to delete product data is usually to clear settings or uninstall the app/extension.

We do not sell personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Legal bases for any limited processing of support communications include legitimate interests (responding to you) and/or consent where required.

Section 12

Apple & Safari Notes

  • This Privacy Policy is between you and Cyborgate, not Apple Inc.
  • Safari extension permissions are controlled by you in Safari settings
  • Void does not use App Tracking Transparency / IDFA for advertising
  • Apple may process installation, update, and system diagnostics under Apple's privacy policy when you use macOS, Safari, or the Mac App Store
Section 13

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and post the new policy at the same URL. Continued use of Void after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
